I collected this sea shell print from a thrift store and it was framed and matted in a style typical of the 80s or 90s. It’s a print from an artwork by Petropoulos of a shell that looks like a Nautilus genus, or a ‘moon snail’ shape, seen from underneath. I wanted a fresher color palette for the print, so as I’ve done in the past, I painted the existing matboard. It took a few coats to cover the dark fibers of the mat with white acrylic paint and I wanted impasto and strokes to be visible. I think it it turned out pretty nice! Look in the PF Shoppe cause this print might be for sale.
Have a Pleasant Day!
