I am very behind on my blog posts! It’s Christmas Day and I’m taking the time to cozy up in a robe, with a familiar video playing, while I catch up on blogging. Because I batched my blog posts for the year, they publish as a headline and image even if I don’t have time to fill in the text. It’s a system that works for me and maybe batching, or monotasking, can work for you too!
On the topic of documentation, I have been trying to be more diligent about documenting my art and vintage journey and the making of particular art pieces. This is being done with photograph and video to chart how certain pieces change over time and chronical my progress. It’s also a method to remember the fun times I have in the studio alone.
I have had so many adventures in my life that were so normal to me, but in reality they were quite unique. I know they happened, but there is not enough documentation to chart those experiences and how they impacted my art. On my private blog, PF Broadcasting, I have quite a bit of documentation of art pieces I have made that I change and edit over time as new ideas and techniques come to me. The above image is of a simple cardboard illustration, to which I added raindrops and clouds, creating a more cosmic vibe.
Whether I am filming a long format video log of myself making Spellbook, or taking snapshots of a singular artwork overtime, documentation is a very important part of my process. Table for One exhibition series was creating for this very reason. Snapping images of my work on the horizontal plane where it was made. Please check out my private blog and which is like my artistic Captain’s log!
Have a Pleasant Day!
