I curate quotes from public figures (often lesser known, unpopular, or underrated figures) about issues related to feminism, racism, and body image. However, I search for quotes that communicate hard lessons, unconventional wisdom, unpopular opinions, and tough love. Occasionally featured in the series are women that were gravely misunderstood at the time or quotes that were less publicized, so that they can be reexamined with fresh eyes and an open mind. I know what it feels like to have my words forgotten, twisted, or villainized. I have made statements and shared opinions that were harsh to say and prickly to the ear long before people were ready for such topics. The Whatcha Say Series is a lesson in communication and a window into like minds. The public figures featured do not necessarily endorse Pleasant Folk. Quotes are extracted from published interviews.
