I was immediately awe struck by the green forest moss covering the rocks and trees at Waldon Pond this spring. I am inspired to incorporate the shapes, textures, and colors of the forest into my artwork. My environment has always impacted what I make and how I go about it. From picture books to abstract art, the sights and sounds of my everyday life are crucial to my creative process. Growing up in suburban North Texas, the big blue sky, telephone poles, litter, American flags, and grackles greatly impacted my art. For my residency at Nemacolin Resort, I am surrounded by nature in the moist spring. New motifs are already starting to take form inspired by rocks, trees, and green moss!
