The Kimbell Art Museum invited me to develop a workshop inspired by the exhibition
From the Lands of Asia for teens during Spring Break Family Day and
for teacher’s summer training.
My idea was to pull from quilting and patchwork practices around the world for a workshop about global textile traditions. There were small Tibetan quilts in the exhibition using luxury fabrics. However, my workshop focused on laboring class textiles, such as cotton, so elements of Gee’s Bend denim patchwork quilts and Japanese Boro work wear inspired this workshop!
