Self-serving arts administrators love to boast that their corrupt institutions or slick galleries are the ‘soul’ of a city and the foundation of a city’s 'culture. In reality, it’s places like the grocery store that glue towns and cities together. I have walked down the pavement to the grocery store every week for years, carrying my paper bags of goods back home with me. When I moved back from my short stint in Tulsa, OK, that ritual continued. But, I also started asking for cardboard boxes headed to the dump. That’s how my latest art series came to be repurposing carboard and kraft paper bags. Years ago, I used grocery store coupon booklets to make collages on board. The grocery store has been an integral part of my artistic journey! All photos are copyright protected.
Have a Pleasant Day!
